Exclusive: Facility would replace oil-based material for utensils and single-use bags
TOKYO — Brazilian chemical company Braskem is considering plans for Japan’s first full-scale production of plant-based plastics, Nikkei has learned, a move that could help cut one of the country’s biggest sources of carbon dioxide emissions.
The project would produce polyethylene — used in utensils and single-use bags — entirely from plant matter.
